Sewing...

I am sew not motivated to finish Little 1's curtains... It takes me twice as long as it should to do it "right"!  It is so easy, too...just sew some straight lines, but I have already butchered the CARS blue fabric and don't want to make mistakes on the brown (because it was on clearance and that means I can't get any more to "fix" it)...sooooo I guess my great grandmother was right!  "Sew on Sunday take out with your nose on Monday" nose? I have no idea what that really means, but I will interpret it as this...go to bed anything you try to sew on Sunday will be a flop...amen!

I made a beautiful and amazingly healthy desert last night...taking a detour from my chocolate addiction..butternut squash with butter, sugar, and cinnamon!!  Very easy...plant butternut squash seeds in spring (about April) in Texas water, water, and water some more.  When the vine dies in July it is time to pick off the squash.  Cut in half and put in oven at 400 degrees for smaller squash about 30 min.  Pull out of oven , then spread butter on each of the halves and shake a little cinnamon and sugar mixture over it.  I thought it looked like a 5 star restaurant course (you know where they take a plate, place one tomato on it with some basil hanging out looking like a green tongue and call it art) Well, obviously my husband didn't have the same idea...he actually said "I can't eat that- it looks awful"!!  I disagree and I have three left to eat in peace, because they are delish!!

Poor, poor Tessie

Just spent a dollar trying to get my phone to do something it does NOT want to do...Saturday our little Boston Terrier met my husband and little 1 at the door with hideous swelling to her right eye/cheek area...Little 1 summed it up as "uh oh" and my husband being in the medical field yells at me while I am changing Little 2 "Don't be alarmed, but you need to come here..." so of course I am alarmed and I speed diaper  Little 2 and head out the door to see poor Tessie with a huge swelling watermelon head and I am thinking...she got bit by fire-ants (which caused anaphylactic shock when she was just a puppy). Why do things happen on Saturdays?  I bolt out "go to the vet's now"...So I stayed outside watched Little 1 kicking a soccer ball around (the two year old can kick a soccer ball better than I can)... while holding Little 2.  I text my husband to see if Tessie was going to be all right and received a one word reply "rattlesnake" I dash down the one step and somehow am able to get in the house holding both of the boys, Little 1 now screaming for having to leave his beloved soccer ball behind.  I think he looked at my face and understood the fear or maybe it was the promise of a rare movie watching, but I finally got both of the boys settled down.  My husband went back Saturday night and reported the swelling was worse than when he brought her in, but the vet tech said it was less than it had been...just a miracle because they thought it was only about 10-15 minutes after she was bitten that he had gotten her to the vet and we live 10 miles away.  Monday my husband had a mandatory meeting for work, so we made a trip of it and went to see her and she look SOOO miserable and here is where the pic would have come in nicely, but since I can't get the phone to work...stupid phone...you will just have to imagine her pitiful face enlarged to twice the size on the right with the eye swollen shut.  I was able to rescue her from the vets today...poor pitiful puppy and she has been enjoying the air-conditioning and med scarfing (with cheese)  I believe that she saved one of our lives (or pretty close to it)!!  What a cute hairy little hero!!
